Apache web server + hardware load balancer + Application server

Hello,
I'd like to know if it's possible to set up a load-balancing solution
made of:
[2 Apache Web Servers] +
[Hardware Load Balancer] +
[Cluster of Java Application servers] (Weblogic application server).

I'd like that Apache returns static content and that Weblogic returns
the dynamic content (JSP).

Is it possible to do it ? if so where the Load Balancer should be
located ?
in front of Apache Web Server, or of Weblogic Server ?
