cant stop apache, GeoIP error, how to fix??

I installed Apache::GeoIP 1.62 from cpan.org
I didnt configure anything in Apache for it yet. I did this
about 1 month ago. I havent taken down apache in over a month and
now when I try to it says:

Syntax error on line 344 of /home/xfer/Apache-GeoIP-1.62/GeoIP.dat:
/home/xfer/Apache-GeoIP-1.62/GeoIP.dat:892: <\x01\xe1\xff\xff&\xff\xff>
was not closed.\n/home/xfer/Apache-GeoIP-1.62/GeoIP.dat:344: <> was not
closed.

this file is a data file which was compiled by Apache-GeoIP:

file /home/xfer/Apache-GeoIP-1.62/GeoIP.dat
/home/xfer/Apache-GeoIP-1.62/GeoIP.dat: data

On top of this, I cannot find where GeoIP is getting called or
checked or anything to cause this error, let alone know what the
problem with the .dat file is to begin with.

Any help is appreciated.

I tried removing the entire apache area and recompiling from
scatch. I looked over the httpd.conf file several times trying
to find where this error is coming from to no avail.
