Default Running multiple instances of apache on Linux machine

I need to run two instances of apache server on my linux box. I know
you would be asking the need for that(I know we can use virtual hosting
to run multiple sites). The reason for doing so is for fail over
purpose. Please advise

You can run multiple instances of Apache if each instance has a unique IP
address or unique port number.
