Apache - slow standard server / fast virtual hosts

Hi there!

I'm currently experiencing apache 1.3-problems. I've set up several
virtual hosts and they all work fine. I've also configured the
standard server and I'm using it for another host.

The problem is, that the applications on the standard server run
rather slow, while all the virtual hosts run on a good speed.

Are there some hints you could give me? I believe, that the
configuration for the standard server consists of the default
configuration for apache 1.3 on debian 3.0, but I can also post my
httpd.conf if you like.
