Default Version compatibility: Linux, Apache, Tomcat

I look after a piece of propriety software which is now no longer
supported by the supplier, and I need some advice about upgrading the
surrounding software.

It currently runs in this environment:
Linux: 2.4.9-e.25
Apache HTTP server : 1.3.27
Tomcat 3.3.1a
Oracle: 9.2.0.5

and we are looking to upgrade Linux to 2.6.9-5.ELhugemem (Red Hat
3.4.3-9.EL4).

Would there be any problems with Tomcat and Apache?
They were supplied with the application (which we don't have source
for)
and we'd rather leave them alone.
I can't find anything on this topic on the Apache site.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Well, we are currently running RHEL 4 on intel servers.
Linux 2.6.9-67.0.4.ELsmp , with Apache 1.3.37, Tomcat 5.0.28,
with Java 2 SDK 1.4.2 as distributed by IBM -- that all works.

I think your biggest problem will be moving precompiled
binaries from LInux 2.4.x to 2.6.x -- we moved a lot of stuff
several years ago and I do seem to remember there were some
'optional' libc compatability packages in the RedHat distribution
that took care of any system call interface changes. It may
all just work for you if you get lucky...

If you have to you should have no problem recompiling
Apache (you may want to upgrade for security patches, quite
a few since 1.3.27). Not so sure about Tomcat -- it looks
like you can still get the stuff for 3.3.x (archived) from their
site, http://tomcat.apache.org/

Hope this helps and good luck!
