Changing domain name problems.

I'm having a heck of a time redirecting my website


Here's the story:

currently the website is under www.domaininstitute.com

we just bought the domain, www.domain.com, a shorter domain.




on my apache server, www.domain.com points to a subdirectory of the
main website: domaininstitute.com/domain


I'd like to switch the names, so that the website will now be www.domain.com,
and then I will forward www.domaininstitute.com to it.

I'd like the new, shorter domain name to always appear in the browser
URL window.


I've tried rewriting and aliasing, but it doesn't seem to work.

Any suggestions on the easiest way to do this?
