I think it would be awfully easy to test. IJB has been replaced by Privoxy. You may want to look at this; http://www.privoxy.org/ and http://dansguardian.org/ I use Dansguardian in conjunction with Squid and Privoxy. It all works together like a charm! -- "Now are you talking about what it is you know or just repeating what it was you heard." Grace Slick To E-mail use: rpiotro(at)wi(dot)rr(dot)com |

IIRC, in your block file, specify the IP to block followed by /*.*/ I find example block files using google "junkbuster blockfile". Privoxy is the replacement for IJB. You should have a look at it. -- buck |

Handling large IPtables list will soon get out of hand (and it won't work very well in the first place). To cut down banner ads is dead easy: use Firefox/Mozilla together with Adblock and a decent ruleset (a good start is found in the forum on Adblock's download page). Use Privoxy if you want to work on all browsers (though my experience is that Privoxy is more prone to breaking web pages so I would choose the first solution if I could). Spam is somewhat harder, one solution might not be enough. Are you running an email server of your own? Then a combination of grey listing, various block lists (Spamhaus i.e.), and end tools like Procmail, Spamassassin and Bogofilter does a great job, once you set them up correctly. You might want to omit grey listing, since it might break things (even though I haven't had any problems with it). If you only want to filter out spam from your email (if you use your ISPs mail server for example), Mozilla Thunderbird has built in spam filtering. I guess other email clients has similiar solutions. You might also check if they provide any of the previous mentioned tools for a more powerful filtering.
