Hi:
I have a trusted LAN with two Suse 9.1 Linux boxen each with the same two user accounts, behind a firewall. The only flaw is a VMware running Windows with IE sometimes, for a very limited number of web sites that need it. I have decided to first change the two users' default groups to be a private group for that user, then change our umasks to 002. The reason is so I can create a directory containing archived digital photos belonging to a mutual group and with the gid bit set, that each of us can write to without having to constantly fiddle with permissions. The private default groups allow us to retain protection from one another accidentally deleting one another's home files. What might be bad about this plan? Thanks. -- _____________________ Christopher R. Carlen crobc@earthlink.net SuSE 9.1 Linux 2.6.5 |
