Default Shorewall probelms

I just recently put RedHat 9 (Shrike) on my box, which previously had
XP on it. While looking for firewalls, Shorewall was recommended by
somebody I know. I downloaded it (and managed to install it
successfully, took me awhile tho cuz linux installing is different
from windows) and i managed to figure out how to turn it on. When its
on, it blocks all internet communication whatsoever. How do I make it
allow me to go on the internet and have it block hackers.

My current configuration:

My box
(goes through)
Hub
(goes through)
DSL connection

Plz Help!!!

Thanks,

The DJ V

I use Mandrake 10 and have shorewall enabled. I have nothing ticked to
allow connection from the internet but lets me get out when I want to.

Did you follow the instructions to download the appropriate interface
sample and copy the relevant files into /etc/shorewall? After a recent
upgrade to version 2.0 I forgot to do this at first and encountered the
same problem as you.
