Default Parental control programs?

Hi, are there any parental control programs avaialble on linux so that I can
ensure my daughter is safe (stopping adult sites, recording amsn, etc?).

While there may be software that can help with standard applications and
protocols, if I were a parent I wouldn't trust them as a 'solution'.

Drop in frequently and directly monitor your child's online behaviours.
Make sure she understands the basics about protecting her privacy online.
Kids are really smart, with the right direction they will not need too much
control.

Found it very good ... sure frustrated my kids :)

I use a vnc program to watch the desktop of the kids machine upstairs
remotely over the network. Thing is now they know I could be watching at
any time they don't even dare do something they shouldn't. Not much use if
you don't have a network though.
