During to "Reno" years, I would use loopback encrypted files
on a striped cdrom. You would need to crack the password, as well as have the correct pair or cd's in the correct order to read files. Low byte cd1, high cd2 I had an old PSI ide controller, that used it's own c,h,s format and only left the root directory track alone. It did it to improve disk access by useing fixed number of logical heads. It was great for recovering drives, the remapping of them would recover bad areas most of the time. If you look at most cashing controllers, you can put your own code in the cashe, and put your encryption algo there. You would still need a bootstrap to load it into the controller but you could password encrypt that to death. Robert |
