Hello group,
I'm interested in hearing recommendations for anti-virus scanners for the RedHat Linux Advanced Server 3 OS and probably using Sendmail as the server. RAV is what we used to use but since Microsoft bought them... Price must be based on number of domains rather than number of mailboxes. -- Benny (Remove your_rose_colored_glasses to mail me) |

Oh hell no! Especially if you are processing "lots" of email. It is buggy, a swap/memory hog and very very very poorly ported by people who know nothing about Unix/Linux. I've been in contact with them (some of their engineers) for a looooong time over many issues. They even asked if Linux was hard to learn, since they needed to learn it "apparently". Of course, we are talking a quarter million messages/day here. But something that wants 4X physical RAM as swap, and starting at 2GB RAM should be a clue. Cheers, Bill -- import stadnard_disclaimer |

It's GPL. I use it with amavis and courier mta. I did it like this on a Debian machine (http://sentinel.dk/cookbook/courier-clamav-amavis.txt). However, plain old amavis is not recommended for high-load servers. It is too CPU intensive. Consider amavisd-new for high-load servers. -- Frederik Dannemare |
