Try Guarddog: http://www.simonzone.com/software/guarddog/ Took the "horriffic" out of iptables for this Windoze convert. F.T. -- Supporting alternative software now ensures that we will be able to choose it in the future. Just say No to Microsoft. |

I'd be interesed to know whether Firestarter on Mandrake behaves in the same way as mine on Debian does. Specifically, I find that Firestarter accesses the disk *every* 4 or 5 seconds without, apparently, logging anything. There doesn't seem to be much control over logging options. - Richard. |

I am having some problems with the guarddog app. Specifically, it says "Guarddog is unable to read the file at /etc/rc.firewall as being a guarddog firewall". It then complains that this may not be the system's current firewall configuration. I have a regular IPTABLES script which is giving me headaches, and want to see if I am doing things right, so I thought I'd see what the GUI put out for rules when I told it to open up specific ports for Timbuktu. Can anyone help me with this error? It seems that guarddog is not picking up my current /etc/sysconfig/iptables values. Mairhtin O'Feannag irishboy at imadethis dot com thank you. |
