My WiFi is not working. Compaq Armada M700 D-Link DWL-650 v.M1 PCMCIA card (Realtek 8180 based) Mandriva 2007 ndiswrapper using windows drivers downloaded from D-Link. I have gotten the activity light to flash, but it will not see any networks or link to mine. A link is never established. This is a new notebook for me. I bought it used. It sees the card fine and it shows up in LSPCI and there is an entry in iwconfig. It just won't link. The wired ethernet works like a champ. Things I have tried: rebooting changing wireless router security from "shared key" to "automatic" changing card settings from "restricted" to "open" switching to another card slot I'd appreciate any ideas on what I can do to get this card working. Otherwise, any suggestions for a Linux compatible/friendly PCMCIA 802.11b card? Thanks, NS -- |

Anyway, on another (Windows) laptop, I can see two other wireless networks, one of which is a "g" which I might not be able to see with this card (b type only). The other b network has no SSID broadcast (mine is also set to no SSID broadcast). I figure I should be able to at least see the presence of a no SSID network. However, when I plug the card into the other laptop (Windows), I get a link light. But I still can't use the card (see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 871122). It requires the vendor software (it is M.I.A.). I have no idea what networks it sees. >>> >>>Things I have tried: >>>rebooting >>>changing wireless router security from "shared key" to "automatic" >>>changing card settings from "restricted" to "open" >>>switching to another card slot >>> >>>I'd appreciate any ideas on what I can do to get this card working. >>> >>>Otherwise, any suggestions for a Linux compatible/friendly PCMCIA 802.11b >>>card? >>> -- |

Haven't even gotten to that point (although it is set up correctly in configuration). I can't see any networks to attach to. I get no link light, only a blinking activity light. It is not that I can't "attach" to my network. It is that I cannot see ANY networks. -- |
