Default VNC server on windows, linux client cannot connect

Hi

I installed TightVNC server on windows and set a password. As far as I can
tell, the windows 2000 professional machine has no firewall running (I
really do not know much about windows, so I could be wrong).

When I try to connect from my Linux machine to the windows VNC server (I
have confirmed - it is running - icon at the bottom windows panel or
whatever it is called) :

$xtightvncviewer <ip address of windows machine>
xtightvncviewer: ConnectToTcpAddr: connect: Connection refused
Unable to connect to VNC server

How do I troubleshoot this ?

Thanks.
