Default Linux HA: Stonith configuration for HP Proliant Blade servers

I am running SUSE SLES9 SP2 on HP Proliant Blade server (BL20) with
heartbeat-1.2.3-2.9 (RPM) package....

Anyone know of a way to configure stonith on such a system.
Would it be better to use a script to shut system down with it cannot
ping outside host?
I am not sure if I gave enough into .. but will provide more info if
needed.

Thanks

I don't know about stonith but you could use "ping groups" or "mond"
(separate program).

Mond could run tests every xx seconds and shutdown heartbeat if it fails
a test. I've had good success with this.

You may also want to only run these tests on the primary server. Lets
say the switch is rebooted... You don't want both systems to give up.

If you use shared storage then you may really require stonith to avoid
damaging data.

We use this strategy with our firewalls and it works very well. The
hard part isn't the failover its getting everything to stop and start in
the right order and as fast as possible.

Do you mean Mon? I have considered Mon... but I do not see any option
for executing shell commands.. only email or pages....

Yes. You can add shell commands and scripts in the .alert files.
