Proxim PCMCIA wireless card problem

Hello all,
I am trying to get my Proxim orinoco silver(but really Hermes II chipset by
agere systems) card working. I tried the official linux drivers from agere
but it doesn't work. I get a high and low beep. When i look at the log
files, it tells me:
hermes and hcf are out of sync

and then refuses to load the driver. I have tried ndiswrapper but it does
not load the inf files from both proxim and agere. Any ideas?
