Default wlan problem ... it's kinda working :(

hello all,

i recently installed slackware ver 9 on a dell laptop. it came w/ a
dell truemobile 1300. i heard of ppl having success w/ linuxant and
ndiswrapper. i've tried both and have the same problem each time.

so both linuxant and ndiswrapper see my device and appear to install
fine.

i type iwconfig and i can see wlan0. i set the essid to match my
wireless router.

i try using dhcpcd but it can't get an ip address. ok, so i set one
manually using ifconfig.

so, it's something like ip:192.168.0.10 bcast:192.168.0.255
mask:255.255.255.0

now, the odd thing is i can ping my laptop from other computers in my
network but my laptop can ping nothing. i know my router sees my
laptop b/c the ip address is listed under "attached devices". my
laptop can't see the router or any comp in the network.

any suggesstions?

thanks!
ryan

I have the same problem with Suse 9.1 on my Dell D600 with a TrueMobile
1300. Although the DHCP work and the interface gets an IP address, I cannot
ping anything from the laptop...

The interesting part and I believe that is related, is that my router
started acting weird after that, dropping connections after a few minutes
and requiring to unplug the AC adaptor. I replaced it once and ran into the
same problem (I have a mac also on my LAN)

In any case, any help would be greatly appreciated

david
