Default Knoppix NIC config problems

Hello,

I have posted this question in comp.os.linux.setup and then in
comp.os.linux.misc over the past two weeks with no response.

I have an ASUS P4P800 Deluxe MB with an on board 3com 3c940
gbit pci lan controller. Latest Feb version of Knoppix does not
recognize the card. I expected this, as Fedora didn't support the
card until recently. I was able to manually force use of the sk98xx
module to make the card work in the Fedora setup.....

However, I have tried to manually configure the network card in
Knoppix but have been stymied..............Can't seem to get modconf
working correctly. Execute modconf, sudo modconf or whatever; won't
let me manually configure the modules used.

Likewise, Trying to run netcardconfig returns no card found and
exits....without letting me manually set up the card.

What simple step, thought process, or key stroke am I missing.

Your help is appreciated to get my network card configured.

Thank You

Knoppix 3.3 doesn't support this chipset. You would need to boot with a
kernel that did, which would likely mean remastering. There may already
be someone who could help you there. Try the Knoppix forums (I think
there are forums anyway.)
