Default VNC performance

Anyone know what I could do to increase the "response rate" of VNC?

I use VNC to connect to my windoze box at work (I run Mandrake 9.1 at
home). It is pretty slow. Man pages dont say what the default value
is for -compresslevel but I was thinking of trying to fool around with
that value. Are there any other options?

Thanks
Matt

Get your hands on "Tight VNC" this is magnitudes faster then
plain VNC.

Hell yeah! It's nice and tight

See my other post, there are switches to use for top bandwidth efficiency

I use TightVNC. Even donated to them. Also I advise to remove desktop
background pictures and use plain one. turn off windowx eyecandy.

Man, that makes a huge difference alone :=). I've found that
rdesktop is still faster than tightvnc however.
