My linux box was running smooth but some how it begin freezing on X from

It freezed with Mozilla, with Opera and with apt-get.
I was using a winxp box with wingate to connect me to the internet, but i

It's because that ?

Is it just certain applications freezing, X completely (can your mouse
cursor still move, but not click on anything), or your networking? Does
load ave. start climbing? If you are using dhcp have you set it in Linux
to NOT change your hostname (changing hostname on the fly can throw a
wrench into X if that hostname is not authorized to access that X
session).

If it is after your laptop has suspended, it could be a problem with video
or pc card nic. I am not familiar with acpi, but apmd can be configured
to switch to console before suspend and back to X when it wakes, or pcmcia
can be restarted automatically when waking.

I used to have problems all the time with Netscape not responding when
going into a race condition, and having to kill it from an xterm,
although, I only remember Mozilla doing that once. Mozilla more commonly
just closes unexpectedly. I usually just figure it is bad site scripting
(JavaScript, etc.) by a clueless Windows webmaster.
