Ok, seems like my samba installation isnt so good as i expected in my
Mandrake 9.1. In fact, Samba is the only thing that is wrong, all the rest is very ok. First of all there is no swat active, the files are spreading all around the HD (something in etc, something in usr/bin, something in usr/share, something here, something there...) so i uninstall it and go to install 2.2.8a that i've found on a CD. I suppose that i have to put the .bin file somewhere and from there start the installation. The question is: where is the best place where to start installation and have smb installed? Or it's absolutely not important? Does Samba 2.2.8 spread his files around too or maybe there will be only 1-2 directory for smbpasswd, smdusers, smb.conf etc.? Tnx Roy |

In /etc is your config file smb.conf in /usr/bin are binaries and documentation is commonly in /usr/share. Even Samba 3 will spread around the HD. Go to http://www.samba.org and read the docu.
