Bit of advice, do a google search for " ibm samba tutorial" . Find the link going to IBM's site and follow this tutorial carefully but exclude the section on making groups, roaming profiles, and logon scripts. What you are left with after those exceptions is quite simply the best and easiest Samba tutorial on the web. This tutorial is from IBM and I got it working quite quickly. However the tutorial left out two critical things; you have to set a smbpasswd for root, and you need to have in the smb.conf file an entry, domain logons=yes. XP needs its registry edited to work with Samba. from memory: |
