When I go to that IP in my web browser, I get a "You are not authorized message" When I go to www.asus.com, I get their home page, but nslookup says that the IP is 216.136.179.238, a totally different block of IP's. Actually the block your IP is in seems to be owned by Chunghwa Telecom Co.,Ltd. Try whois 210.59.147.153@whois.arin.net This will tell you that arin.net is not the right place to go and suggests apnic.net, then you can try whois 210.59.147.153@whois.apnic.net which will give you way more information about that block of IP's than you really want to know. Trying this on the Asus IP says that Cable & Wireless owns that block of IP's. Asus must be a downstream user of theirs. -- Jim Buchanan jbuchana@kokomo1.net jbuchana@buchanan1.net =================== http://www.buchanan1.net/ ========================== "Cats have nine lives, you know," said Sir Wilfred heartily. Stavo per dire: "Apri i portelli, HAL" quando all'improvviso mi sono
svegliato, sentendo jbuchana@buchanan1.net che mi diceva: >When I go to www.asus.com, I get their home page, but nslookup says >that the IP is 216.136.179.238, a totally different block of IP's. Yes, that IP is www.asus.com.tw >Try whois 210.59.147.153@whois.arin.net This will tell you that >arin.net is not the right place to go and suggests apnic.net, then you >can try whois 210.59.147.153@whois.apnic.net which will give you way >more information about that block of IP's than you really want to >know. Well, my issue is to determine the "Country: " field independently from the registrar. I need at least an always-updated list of official whois servers. Does it exist? |
