(Except of regular newsreader functionality). Btw, you can download articles from this group with NewsMaestro and automatically convert them to web pages, so your pleasure of viewing the articles of interest inreases significantly. And you can download using filters. So you can make sure your favorite authors, topics, domains, etc. are always downloaded and never missed again. You can even filter on article body text when downloading. So, you can see the articles containing information of your interest. You can even use the associative filtering while downloading, posting, or just about anything else, and create your own list of associations, containing the issues of your interest and a set of keyword phrases to find them. Good enough fer starters? Read da web page. There's much more... >The end of the post contains a rant about how mean Russ Allbery is >and how he's "destroying usenet", so you *know* whatever software >they write has got to be quality stuff, and good for the community. Yep. The best there is. You got something better? Show me. Meanwhile, look at this web page to see what it is in a single picture. http://newsmaestro.sourceforge.net/Main_Window.htm :--} Enjoy. > - Logan -- Get yourself the most powerful tool for usenet you ever heard of. Version 3.7.5 has been released. * Fixed a newly introduced bug in article body filter. If you specified the body filter with a single keyword, it would hang. * Fixed a bug in From header generator which would cause an error when multi-word from text substitution was selected. * Implemented a body filter for download operation. It supports both, Microsoft and Sun's JVM and includes class files. It is verified to work under Windows with Sun's JVM and with Microsoft JVM/VM. It is also verified to work under Linux. Should also work under Unix. Several new server authentication methods added and email code has been significantly improved. Several performance improvements. NewsMaestro download page: http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...roup_id=203356 Web page: http://newsmaestro.sourceforge.net/ or http://tarkus01.by.ru/ Note: You need to have JVM (Java Virtual Machine) installed. Otherwise, the program won't run on some versions of Windows. Try to run the program and if you see the main window, it means you do have it installed already. A quick search on the Internet will find it easily. The file size should be around 5 megs. You can try this one for starters: http://www.java-virtual-machine.net/download.html It should have links to sites that have it. If you download and install Microsoft's version of JVM, you can simply double click on NewsMaestro to run it. JVM is available in Microsoft or Sun (original creator of Java language) versions. Visit sun.com to get it, if you can find it in all that maze, and if you can even download jvm without the entire development kit. |

You use your regular newsreader >for that. > >Read the web page to see what it is. > >>> Moreover, the article was posted to multiple groups. Because it is applicable to ANY group, you see. And ANY user of usenet, not you alone. Secondly, whenever there is a new release with significant improvements or bug fixes, the message is posted so people can get the latest version. In particular, 3.7.5 fixes a very important bug in article body filtering. It is a MUST have. If you don't like it, the main rule of usenet, directly from the hourse's mouth, Russ Allbery, is: "If you don't like it, do not follow up on it, do not read it, and just forget about it". And THAT is the bottom line of this all. Why do you even bother with this? Does anybone pulls you by your tongue? Do I interfere in your threads? So... This is MY thread, wether you like it or not. And if you post ANYTHING under this thread, or ANY thread containing NewsMaestro in subject line, NewsMaestro will automatically download all the articles and they will be reviewed. Simple, ain't it? Finally, if any of you, smart dudes around here, have any feedback, ideas, suggestions, or are interested in participating in this project on sourceforge.net, post it under this thread. There are some performance issues that would be nice to implement, such as bandwidth utilization on download. Or you might have your own ideas of what else could be done. For example, it would be nice to not only read the articles as web pages, but to POST from a regular browser. If you have any ideas on this, spill it out. All the independent test results, problems and suggestions are appreciated indeed. Good luck. >>> Let's hope the authors are aware of, and have provided, the ability >>> to cross-post articles! > >:--} >Anything and everything you want. >(Except of regular newsreader functionality). > >Btw, you can download articles from this group with NewsMaestro >and automatically convert them to web pages, so your pleasure >of viewing the articles of interest inreases significantly. > >And you can download using filters. Well, i don't mind "making" ANY amount. Cause i also need to eat, even though i am posting to a Linux group.
