Default PuppyLinux and bootable compact flash

Hi,
I'm not able to have a bootable compact flash.
My CF (1GB) is mounted on CF-IDE adaptor and it's /dev/hda1 device.
I tried to create manually the partitions and specially 100MB ext3
partition,
formatted with mkfs.ext3 /dev/hda1 command.
I did all steps suggested from puppy and they gone successfully...
but at boot grub fails to start.
Any suggestion?
