Suse 9.2 sound problem

Ocasionally a web site with sound will play a strange eleconic noise
(always the same) and he sound system is disabled until root issues
/etc/rc.d/alsasound restart

This of course kills any running web browser. Does anyone have any idea
what might be going on and how to make Firefoc and/or Opera not do this ?

The desktop is KDE.
