It did not help at all. I installed the latest thing and it fails wrong
the same way. mozilla-i686-pc-linux-gnu-1.7.5-installer.tar.gz

Sure, but since it is my stock broker account (Ameritrade), I sure will
not give you the login and password.

https://wwws.ameritrade.com/cgi-bin/login.cgi

That one comes right up, but when I enter my login and password, the
problems ensue...

If it works for you with Konqueror but not with mozilla, even if
others say it works for them with a recent mozilla. I'd rename
~/.mozilla and restart the mozilla you downloaded and see what
happens.

So who's got the porl then?

If they were *oily* pigs, now, that would be something.

Therefore we need clearly need jimbat to take up Linux.

Yeah, I notice even when I get in and see the first page pretty quickly
Mozilla doesn't think its done. After a very long time it finally thinks
it has everything.

Attaching strace I see:

write(4, "5\20\4\0-\274\210\1;\0\0\0\"\0\"\0;\3\5\0\276\273\210\1"... , 580) = 580
ioctl(4, 0x541b, [0]) = 0
poll([{fd=4, events=POLLIN}, {fd=6, events=POLLIN, revents=POLLIN}], 2, -1) = 1
gettimeofday({1105827198, 92439}, NULL) = 0
gettimeofday({1105827198, 92575}, NULL) = 0
read(6, "\372", 1) = 1
ioctl(4, 0x541b, [0]) = 0
poll([{fd=4, events=POLLIN}, {fd=6, events=POLLIN, revents=POLLIN}], 2, -1) = 1
gettimeofday({1105827198, 182956}, NULL) = 0
gettimeofday({1105827198, 183060}, NULL) = 0
gettimeofday({1105827198, 183590}, NULL) = 0
kill(20935, SIGRT_0) = 0
gettimeofday({1105827198, 183806}, NULL) = 0
gettimeofday({1105827198, 183884}, NULL) = 0
gettimeofday({1105827198, 184243}, NULL) = 0
kill(20935, SIGRT_0) = 0
read(6, "\372", 1) = 1
ioctl(4, 0x541b, [0]) = 0
poll([{fd=4, events=POLLIN}, {fd=6, events=POLLIN}], 2, 0) = 0
write(4, "5\20\4\0/\274\210\1;\0\0\0L\3?\0;\3\5\0\345\273\210\1\0"... , 2468) = 2468

and this repeats over and over.

I'm not sure what it's trying to kill, but it doesn't work,
it keeps sending kill to the same pid.

Then I tried tcpdump.

It appears like using tcpdump is a surefire way to make the problem
go away. No, actually, it just started working fast again.

For the time being, I'm stumped.

Firefox. I find it very fast, it renders the pages perfectly and
has a lot of addons.
