Default gnome and alsa and esound and xmms

Hello,

I am using gnome 2.4 and the last version of alsa.
When i do NOT run esound, i have no sound with gnome but xmms is working
fine.
When i run esound, gnome sounds are working fine but xmms freeze even with
the esound plugin.

Does anyone have an idea ?

Fred

Looks like XMMS is still trying to access the sound card directly (and
can't because esd is blocking it). Try to launch it from the command line
using "esddsp xmms &"

Can't explain why the esd plugin doesn't work. I'm using esound 0.2.28
under FluxBox and it works fine. Did you restart XMMS after changing the
output plugin? I found that helped when I used gnome.
