Default Gnome menus

Where the !@#$ are they? Where on my system can I find the
files/directory structures that describe the main menu?

I've looked all over the place, read the docs, and nothing jumps out at
me.

I've found KDE menus, all sorts of menus, but no gnome/ximian menus....

FWIW, I'm running Ximian Desktop 2.

Type applications:/// into the Nautilus address bar and edit away. It's
one of them new, mysterious vfolders in GNOME. :) You can also get there
via the "My Computer" <spit> icon, click "Programs".

Well, I'm trying to extract some information from the menus - with a
script or grep.... I figure they have to be somewhere.

If that fails, I'll follow up with nautilus.

Usually, they're here:

/usr/share/applications

Thanks for the tip. Any idea why cut and paste returns "unsupported
operation"? trying to move launcher from one folder to another.
