It did take some hand holding to get my sister (73) going on XP (with some help from her friends) but I wouldn't even consider trying to get her running on any Linux. Sacramento to Phoenix is just too far to support. She was a head nurse and I am/was an engineer so the geekiness just fell into my lap. Flip a coin. We both have good genes and intelligence but there was a fork in the road as to areas of interest. I like playing with the technical stuff and she likes to surf. Bill Baka |

But it could be representative of general population. E.g my children would be linux users by virtue of what they have at home. -- Due to extreme spam originating from Google Groups, and their inattention to spammers, I and many others block all articles originating from Google Groups. I can think of several ways in which the sample of those in need of help with algebra homework and thus likely to hit your site would be selected against or in favor of a particular OS. So it is growing a little bit. Two of our commercial websites have seen an increase from 17% to 35% Linux-using visitors in the last year. The sites are in Europe, for Europeans. Mac usage has declined from 9% to 6% in the same time. C. |
