Has anyone ever posted a spam complaint to Goolge regarding Google Groups
spam? More specifically the crud that been coming out of China selling sneakers? If not why not? http://groups.google.com/support/bin...earch=Continue Also since the email addresses given are yahoo and hotmail has anyone reported abuse to them? And lastly if you all would stop buying the stuff maybe they'd stop posting it. as always, PS - yes I have and no it hasn't accomplished anything (yet) -- OpenSuse 10.2 x64, KDE 3.5, Opera 9.x weekly |

Because Google Groups ignores all abuse reports. Spamming, flooding, forging, it's all OK with them. They are evil. >Also since the email addresses given are yahoo and hotmail has anyone >reported abuse to them? Not a lot of point. Most of them are forged, and the rest are throwaways -- yahoo and hotmail allow the abuser to create a new email address if the old one is shut down. >And lastly if you all would stop buying the stuff maybe they'd stop >posting it. They only need a tiny fraction of a percent to respond to make a profit. >PS - yes I have and no it hasn't accomplished anything (yet) As expected. The only *effective* method is to get your local newspaper to print an article about Google (Motto: "don't be evil") being evil. Nothing else will get throught to them. |

How sad that google, usually focused on user experience, ruins our usenet experience by allowing spammers run unfettered. i |

I really don't think that even a regular spammer is st00pid enough to think that sending identical copies of a spam is going to get customers. Either none of the messages hit a killfile, or they all do - so sending 25 or 50 copies of the same message serves no purpose in getting past filters. >Because Google just ignores such reports. Have you stopped using (and recommending to others) google and their many services? Google only has about sixty IP blocks out of ARIN, and a few I haven't bothered with from RIPE and APNIC. If they don't want be a responsible Internet neighbor, then why should you be adding to their bottom line by visiting their sites? Old guy [1] The journalistic "you", not Chuck, or anyone else specifically. |

If it was happening on the same level in at least some other newsgroups I read, then I'd think it's some nutcase spammer. But it's too targetted here, and there are far better newsgroups to obnoxiously spam for the spammer who actually thinks they will attract business with their spam. Michael |

I'm going to ignore anything originating from GG, and anything replying to it. No, I'm certainly not going to bother complaining to Google. You do it, if you feel the need. And Hotmail can go fsck themselves. > [1] The journalistic "you", not Chuck, or anyone else specifically. Easy enough to do, but it doesn't solve the problem. >No, I'm certainly not going to bother complaining to Google. You do it, >if you feel the need. Read it again - I didn't suggest complaining to google, which is a black hole for complaints. A more useful thing to do is to complain to YOUR news provider - after all, you're their customer. If you can get your news provider to de-peer, and a few dozen others, google may eventually get the message. In the mean time, have you also stopped using and/or recommending use of google. That reduces their ad revenue, and THAT will get their attention. >And Hotmail can go fsck themselves. Hotmail was part of microsoft, right? Microsoft IP space has been blocked here for several years. I don't think either is going to happen very soon. Old guy |
