RH7.2 Printer Hardware Detection Problem

Gentle People:

Sometimes my RH7.2 Systems fail to detect
my HP Printers which are attached via a Centronics
Parallel Printer Cable. BTW I have tried multiple
cables.

Has anyone else seen this?

If yes is there a work around? Such as a manual
configuration program such as Kudzu?

Also my 7.2 Kudzu configuration program
behaves strangely when run from the Gnome
command line. Was Kudzu intended to run from
the (Non Graphical) command prompt?
