Default sound problems since Fedora upgrade

Hi.

Ever since upgrading my Dell Intel box from RedHat 9 to Fedora Core 2,
sound has quit working.

When I use system-config-soundcard, I am told that the sound card is an
Intel 82801BA/BAM AC97 Audio, and that the appropriate module is
snd-intel8x0. However, I don't hear the sound that it is playing. Hence,
when I click "no", I am told that sound will not be installed on this
system (at least, by system-config-soundcard).

Suggestions? Thanks.
