How to upgrade ipfilter on freebsd box

Hi, everyone

I'm using freebsd 4.10 stable, the ipfilter version on
the box is 3.xx.xx. Now I'd like to try 4.xx.xx
version of ipfilter, I try to install ipfilter 4.xx.xx
on my box in both kernel and modules mode, but failed.
how can I upgrade it?
