Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for some help in getting ethereal to capture and display 802.1q packets using W2K. I have mirrored a port on a switch that has 802.1q traffic. When I sniff on the mirror port, I either see no traffic at all , or, the traffic I expect but with the tags stripped. This depends on which laptop I use. I've read the doc at wiki that states that if sniffing on a mirrored port, "You'll definitely see the VLAN tags, regardless of what OS the independent system is running or what type of network adapter you're using." This statement appears to be incorrect. Any help would be much appreciated. P.S. when I use snifferpro, I see the 802.1q packets. |
