The one fact I forgot to mention (and its the most inportant and I apologize) this server should only allow customers to send email through it from outside the network. This is not our main mx/smtp servers. The configuration emtpd for AUTH_REQUIRED is what I needed. I read the documentation, but didnt catch it. Sorry all.
