I have courier-mta running with IMAP access. The IMAP access comes from two sources, some regular clients and a webmail= =20 server (Squirrelmail). Recently, I had the problem that the webmail service was broken du=20 to "MAXPERIP" setting in imapd config file. It's clear, the access comes fr= om=20 the same host for all users. After increasing this value, I ran into another problem: Thunderbird (maybe= =20 other clients too) always tries to DoS an IMAP server. When 10 connections= =20 are allowed, thunderbird will use them all. So when a user did some ugly operation (don't know what he did) on his tras= h=20 mailbox, there were 10 imap processes each consuming 10% of the CPU. This=20 forces the system scheduler to serve this user's stuff all the time. So I have to decrease the limit per IP to stop this behaviour. That will br= eak=20 Webmail access. So there are two questions: * Is there any chance to limit the parallel connections per user account=20 (system-user or imap-user)? system-wide or individually... * Is there any way to set exceptions for the MAXPERIP limit. So hat I can s= et something different for the webmail server. If none of these is true: Would that be hard to implement? cu, Bernd --nextPart2893824.COstCDHrGn Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Description: This is a digitally signed message part. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.9 (GNU/Linux) iQIcBAABAgAGBQJIAMXnAAoJEA0b18vi86Q/RyMQAI40bINB149VJByw/2RYYnS1 eFQ+f0H7qmI8TRoQy/KRGIh6cPJl9vNhYy9PKWKNntrTrPWIKkai6gy3ZXDv1tWb Zl4M1th5Z3o8dR/eZJVonpZUfvjL04TpNTXtML3aNSjJ1Q4/JxzGzXq+EdazgtAs W+f+gFvkgV+a67zebEu0vGRmfzH2rm38Weo57R0KnPe5L2jAEY ow8Libp4xZ04Ur lv3zMHMUKVZsYsHSxmQNYkTzUw86ewP4evD+dzaDkGZZCWAzbb gsJjaNRLNHpm6c Oje410D6sVwEG2Mwv7+Beyk3Kapm8ck41fssqkjvEfIgeZHux+ PTNWZBFy/pKrbc JVTnJlXZUXhvniPwrWu2w0oNw7Lb54y6qeNUVRj9B2C9q5fYnV M2b8l7INfG/uIr 2KOPcKdf7MUSqkPVuAgxlZYaejjSxc+aZ+YYQ+anP5YYTg9jag oPNCERL1nsXpWa lXwzEcR9CUbWJyxBRvaTNMWo599asijW8csgLkJCmpZGdHV58S 9YqYqbQB8qUSpU NaRIekbmic8VnxGZsUpAGVYwzTLmASm9wTN57aVkTjo1uQsoEX 0tIL2bE2/gh4AZ 3YTj7P4B0u2FScL/C9u51v3NTJVKz56aIQxE/ybEI3H6QD2zgYxR6Pvxr4b0TWu4 NMPwUw1YVJn6nGZ/mbZv =5C/F -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --nextPart2893824.COstCDHrGn-- --===============1862929597== Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by the 2008 JavaOne(SM) Conference Don't miss this year's exciting event.
