For many reasons: - Blacklists etc. create havoc with the checking - Timeouts - It is extremely easy to conduct DDoS against a mail server, if this becomes widespread (think a spammer sending a large number of spams forging your domain, which is bad even now, and it'll be a disaster if everybody used callback).
