[courier-users] SSL problems with courier 0.56.0

After upgrading from 0.54.2 to 0.56.0 I have lots of trouble with secure
connections of all kinds. Below are the kinds of error messages I have
seen in my maillogs.

courieresmtpd: courieresmtpd: STARTTLS failed: couriertls: accept:
error:1408F10B:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_RECORD:wrong version number

imapd-ssl: couriertls: connect: error:1408A09F:SSL
routines:SSL3_GET_CLIENT_HELLO:length mismatch

imapd-ssl: couriertls: connect: error:1408F10B:SSL
routines:SSL3_GET_RECORD:wrong version number

After search the mailing list archives, I have found some talk about
this already, but no solution. If I set everything to SSL2, then
Thunderbird does not work. So, I tried installing 0.56.0.20070701.
This has the same behavior. Any ideas on the fix?

Also, pythonfilter no longer works (another issue entirely). But, one
issue at a time.
