Externally there are n= o=20 major changes, but internally the code has been completely overhauled.=20 couriermlm's innards are some of the oldest code in Courier, going back a= s=20 far back as 1999; and not exactly a shining example of OOD/OOP. All the=20 cruft has been upgraded to something that's more maintainable. The=20 immediate changes are: + Archive list indexes -- the "index" control message now formats the=20 archive index as UTF-8. Subjects containing non-Latin characters should = now=20 be shown correctly. + This means that in every existing list, you must manually fix the=20 idxheaderhtml.tmpl and idxheadertxt.tmpl files. After installing this=20 upgrade go into every list's directory, open these two files, and on the=20 first line replace "charset=3Diso8859-1" with "charset=3Dutf-8". There's = really=20 no automatic way to do this, you'll need to manually fix this. Sorry. + import/export commands now preserve write-only list aliases. Subscript= ion=20 lists exported from the new version of couriermlm cannot be imported into=20 the earlier versions of couriermlm. + The NAME list setting (the sender's name on couriermlm bot replies) can = be=20 set on the command line using the native character set text, and will be=20 appropriately RFC 2047-encoded before it gets inserted in every courierml= m=20 bot autoresponse. Actually, native characters will get encoded in any=20 option setting, but NAME right now is the only one whose contents get=20 inserted into messages. =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3 D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3 D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3 D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D Comments: These changes required some adjustments to mail parsing routines that are=20 used by all major Courier components. No regression was detected by 'mak= e=20 check', but that doesn't mean that something isn't hiding somewhere. Kno= wn=20 change to check for -- if anyone is even doing this -- is that messages=20 submitted via the sendmail command wrapper which contain non-Latin adders= s=20 header content will now be encoded "correctly". Some webmail cgi code has been factored out of webmail, and into the cgi=20 library, with the goal of it being reused in couriermlm. Forthcoming wor= k=20 on couriermlm will add a web component (an option will be added to=20 acknowledge a subscribe/unsubscribe request by opening a URL, instead of=20 replying). Feedback regarding the revamped couriermlm is welcome. It's probably too=20 early to upgrade couriermlm that's responsible for important lists; but i= f=20 you are not using couriermlm for critical lists, please give this one a=20 spin. --=_mimegpg-commodore.email-scan.com-2840-1172799780-0002 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQBF54Ekx9p3GYHlUOIRApUHAJ90rXBjEsUycyQH9YVOnw 6fAq4J4ACcCTRW 2fUBDVR51hZr4Mpoqoz2ees= =TWD/ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --=_mimegpg-commodore.email-scan.com-2840-1172799780-0002-- --===============1180055692== Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
