This is a client issue.
Recent versions of Thunderbird allow to enter the IMAP server namespace
in the account configuration. In my configuration I have "INBOX." and it
works just fine. So does Outlook Express, Outlook does not AFAIK.
I haven't tried the Evolution client yet.
