On 64-bit machines the limit is much larger. I'm not quite sure what it is but I'm pretty sure it's much greater than and storage our institution can afford :) If you're thinking you might need quotas bigger than 2gb, you'll need to move to a 64-bit Unix/Linux distribution. Courier works quite well with large quotas. My box currently has a 40gb quota on it of which I'm using 10% :-) This is on RedHat Enterprise Linux 4 for AMD64. Yes, it would be really painful to do POP3 to an INBOX with +2gb of messages but if you haven't checked your mail in the long and don't know how to use folders it's your fault. It should work though.
