IIRC, it has been a long time since I have used it, but you just create
and empty file en etc/courier/unsecureok as

> -rw-r--r-- 1 courier courier 0 Jan 16 2004 unsecureok


That was a year and a half ago, probably version 0.47 but it should
still work.
