[courier-users] courier-authlib, make install-migrate & makeuserdb

I'm trying to upgrade courier from 0.47 to 0.49.0, but installing
courier-authlib is failing at the "make install-migrate" stage.

It loops forever, first outputting:

- /usr/local/courier-authlib/etc/authlib/userdb.tmp
/usr/local/courier-authlib/etc/authlib/userdb.dat

for many lines, then outputting:

- /usr/local/courier-authlib/etc/authlib/userdbshadow.tmp
/usr/local/courier-authlib/etc/authlib/userdbshadow.dat

both for seemingly random numbers of consecutive lines.

Running "/usr/local/courier-authlib/sbin/makeuserdb" manually gives the
same results.

I configured courier-authlib with:

../configure --prefix=/usr/local/courier-authlib --with-db=gdbm
--with-authdaemonrc=/usr/local/courier/etc/authdaemonrc
--with-authdaemonvar=/var/run --without-authldap --without-authpwd
--without-authshadow --without-authvchkpw --without-authpgsql
--with-mailuser=courier --with-mailgroup=courier --with-redhat
--with-makedatprog

"make" and "make install" ran fine.

My old userdb is the directory:

/usr/local/courier/etc/userdb/

and contains the following files:

..lock.system
..lock.userdb
..lock.virtual
system
virtual

These are copied to /usr/local/courier-authlib/etc/authlib/userdb/ by
"make install-migrate".

I'm not sure what's up with makeuserdb, but I can't find any references
to this problem elsewhere.
