Default [courier-users] Strange smtp delay problem, plus access problem to some imap folders

I've got a couple remaining problems that need to be resolved. I can't
find a reasonable approach to diagnose the issues and would greatly
appreciate some suggestions. The strange thing is that these problems
only affect my account on Courier, not any of my users.

The problems are:
1. SMTP transactions are very slow. It takes about 15 seconds to
send a message from either Thunderbird or Outlook. There are no log
messages for for the first 14 seconds, even at debug level. Then
couriersmtpd wakes up and everything happens very quickly. I beleive
couriertcpd responds to the conneciton request immediately, but for some
reason, for my account only, there is about a 14 second delay before
couriersmtpd is kicked off. How might I go about diagnosing this? I've
traced through init.d/courier logic into the other scripts it invokes
and have not been able to find where it launches couriertcpd and so
cannot determine if it is logging any messages somewhere other than syslog.
2. Three of my IMAP folders (Drafts, Sent and Trash) are inaccessible
under Thunderbird, but strangley have no problems under Outlook. All
other folders work fine. When attempting to access Drafts, Sents or
Trash, Thunderbird status line remains with "Connected to
dev.allthingslocal.com..." and never shows the contents. Again, there
are no log messages and so I can't figure out what is going on.

I hope somebody has a suggestion. I would like to at least have some
way to trace what's happening with couriertcpd (e.g., when the
connection is initiated and anything it might be able to report between
then and kicking off couriersmtpd or courierimapd).

On a lesser but possibly related note, I've noticed this sequence of
messages showing up in the log periodically (but not during the failing
operations above). Is this normal?
