[courier-users] Consistent hang of imapd (gamin/gam_server?)

Folks:

I am getting very consistent problems with the imapd server hanging when
certain users attempt to access their mailboxes. I am fairly certain
that the problem is actually related to gamin/gam_server, the
file/directory change notification library used by courier. It looks
imapd is stuck in connect() or select() talking to the gam_server.

I've updated my Fedora system to the test releases of gamin

gamin-0.0.19-1.FC3
gamin-devel-0.0.19-1.FC3

in an attempt to surpass these problems, but my uptade to 0.0.17, the
latest "release" versions didn't help.

My belief in the theory that this is gamin related is strengthened by
the fact that setting IMAP_USELOCKS=0 gets rid of the hang.
