dig questions

hi!

i use 'dig' for analysing my DNS-Records.
There's a possibility to ask other dns-server for
records by adding @<DNSERVER> to the command.

But some DNS-Servers are answering me the records
or some others answer just the root-servers list.

Do anybody knows why?
