I should have mentioned this before, this BIND is running on FreeBSD =
4.10 Others have apparently reported a similar condition to MAPS and their = advice was to move back to BIND 8. We have over 1GB of RAM in this beast, we shouldn't need more memory for one 80MB zone. =20 Why would others find no problem using BIND 8 with an 80MB zone but have = this problem with BIND 9.2.3? -- Mark Hennessy -----Original Message----- From: Elzey, Blaine A (Blaine) [mailto:belzey@lucent.com]=20 Sent: Friday, August 27, 2004 9:46 AM To: Mark Hennessy; bind-users@isc.org Subject: RE: BIND 9.2.3 and zone transfers larger than 64MB To restate the obvious, I would be willing to bet you need more memory, = or need to configure your kernel process limits. Blaine -----Original Message----- From: Mark Hennessy [mailto:mhennessy@cloud9.net] Sent: Friday, August 27, 2004 8:54 AM To: bind-users@isc.org Subject: BIND 9.2.3 and zone transfers larger than 64MB I am using MAPS RBL+ and their zone file has recently (in the past few = =3D weeks) grown to be larger than 64MB. I have been using BIND 9.2.3 prereleases = =3D and have upgraded to 9.2.3 GA recently. I get the following output in my logs: Aug 27 08:45:17 <host> named[83125]: transfer of =3D 'rbl-plus.mail-abuse.org/IN' from <mail-abuse.IP>#53: failed while receiving responses: out of memory My named process also dies every few hours or so. Is there any recommended course of action to take to fix this that does = =3D not involve going back to BIND 8? -- Mark Hennessy |
