For best results he'll need "akam.net.", too, because "akadns.net." uses
out-of-bailiwick intermediate domain names in its delegation information
(rendering it effectively partially glueless) which will also need to be
brought in from the public DNS database.

In general, he'll have to check the intermediate domain names used in all
delegations and bring in the "zone"s for all of them.
